Counseling- Mr. Espinoza
Mr. Espinoza is the School Counselor at Rio Colorado Elementary and is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to succeed.
As a school counselor, he supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal growth through individual and small-group counseling, classroom lessons, and schoolwide programs. His work focuses on helping students build confidence, manage emotions, develop healthy friendships, solve problems, advocate for themselves, and make positive choices.
Collaboration is an important part of his role. He works closely with students, families, teachers, and staff to identify student needs and provide meaningful support. His goal is to help students feel comfortable asking for help, develop a strong sense of belonging, and gain skills they can use both inside and outside of school.
With a background in psychology, he also teaches psychology courses at the college level and is currently a doctoral student in Education. These experiences continue to strengthen his approach to supporting students and developing programs that respond to their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Above all, he believes every student deserves to feel heard, supported, and valued. Through the RCS Counseling Program, he is committed to helping students grow while promoting our schoolwide expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind.
