Student Attendance

 Attendance Agreement

We are so excited to have a successful 2022-2023 school year! One way for students to be successful is to make a commitment to attend school every day. Each student is expected to attend school every day and be on time. Parents or guardians will be notified as absences accumulate as the law requires that parents/guardians make an effort to get their children to school. Frequent absences, tardies, and/or leaving early from school are detrimental to the academic success of our students. Any student that is absent should bring a handwritten note or doctor’s note when he/she returns to school.

I fully agree to, and understand the following:

  •      I will be on time for school daily (Mon- 7:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. and Tues-Fri- 7:40 am- 2:40 pm)
  •      I will report to the main office if I arrive late to receive a tardy pass.
  •      I fully understand that being absent or late to class will affect my participation in student incentive events.
  •      I will present a written letter with parent’s signature or notice from physician for my absence to be marked as excused.
  •      I understand that my parent/guardian will be contacted if I violate this agreement.
  •      I understand that the Attendance Clerk, Parent Liaison, School Counselor and/or law enforcement will be contacted, if I engage in skipping during any part of the school day.
  •      I fully understand that if the Student Attendance Contract is violated, a disciplinary action and/or truancy procedures will follow:
    •        Student will be referred for Saturday School (4 absences)
    •      Parents/guardians shall receive a warning letter of possible referral to the Attorney General and complete the school/family mediation contract agreement form on the fifth absence
    •      Parents/guardians will be referred to the Attorney General at 10th unexcused absence/tardy.
    •      All excused and/or unexcused absences at or above 18 WILL be immediately referred to truancy court.
  • I understand my absences can negatively affect the school letter grade.

This agreement is between the student, parent/guardian, and Rio Colorado Elementary School.
