We had over 96 parents at our PTO meeting, on Tuesday, March 3rd. This meeting was especially implemented for 6th graders, their teachers, Ms. Lujan, Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Jacinto and Mr. Sepulveda attended the meeting. Ms. Lujan did a power point presentation on AIMS testing. Flyers were distributed showing scale scores and performance levels, then Ms. Lujan explained what the scores meant at state level and that the results can be compared nation wide. She enforced the importance of reading instructions and following directions, and asked the parents for their help, as is very important not to miss school, be on time, have a special place to study at home, to sleep 8 hours, and eat well.
Ms. Lujan also designed an invitation for 6th grade promotion and asked the parents to participate in the event.
Accelerated Readers and Student of the Month Certificates were awarded to our outstanding students. Next PTO Meeting, Tuesday April 7th.
SAFE KIDS ID PROGRAM was at our school to photograph; take the height, weight, and fingerprint of your child. This program is a big help. If something happens to your child, providing authorities with current and accurate information will help achieve a fast and safe recovery. It is very important that you carry this card at all times.
On Wednesday March 18th, Report cards go home, and Parent/Teachers Conferences begin on the same date. It is of high importance to keep your appointment with your child’s teacher to get a complete report on his/her grades and behavior.
Rio Colorado School is planning its annual AIMS and TERRANOVA Festival on March 26, 2009, at the Reading Garden in our school. For that reason we invite all parents to come and participate to encourage and motivate our students to do their best on the state tests. Do not miss the opportunity to learn and have fun!
Because of AIMS testing we will not have early dismissal on April 8 and 15.
