On Tuesday, December 18, at Middle School Gym, we had our  PTO/Title I meeting , we had over 254 parents. Mrs. Brooks gave information about Title I and we had a moment of silence in memory of a 4th grade student that passed away. We celebrated our students with Student of the Month and Accelerated Reader Certificates, and the most special part of our PTO was the wonderful Christmas Program in which all student levels participated. K-5th grades each sang a song and Ms. Lilia Cota presented two  dance numbers. After the program parents and students came back to the school for arts and crafts.
On Dec. 12th, we had a presentation about character: “The Power to Make It Happen” at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center. Their were two assemblies for all grade levels. This presentation motivated and encouraged students to make right choices and persevere to attain their personal goals.
On Dec. 18th, the Mariachi group   & SLMS Choir came and performed for our students.  Students and Staff enjoyed the musical performance very much.
At our next PTO we will be presenting DIBELS, Citizenship & Perfect Attendance Certificates. We will also draw the name of the student to award the bike for Perfect Attendance from the beginning of the school year.
